Robb Report editorial teams globally keep tabs on things that stand out in preparation for our annual Best of the Best issue. Early in the year, we’re already thinking of what’s coming up at the end of the year, putting a mental sticky note on notable new releases and destinations, be it stand-out jewels, watches, gadgets, properties, yachts, or the odd LP player.

As the days turn to weeks and months, before you know it, we take account of the year that was and honour the best of the very best, an annual exercise that Robb Report has been doing for 35 years and, since inception, we in Hong Kong have been cataloguing for the ages.

When running the gamut of categories, from automobiles, yachts, and aviation, to watches, style, jewellery, and property, to design, art, and gear, to travel, dining, and wines and spirits, it’s not always easy to pinpoint a unifying thread. Not only do the honorands have to be the finest in their category, but the service and experience they offer must be unparalleled. Quality, history, and that ethereal ingredient of passion comes to mind; these legacy brands still exist for good reason. While trends change, a high-standard of excellence does not. Still, it is not only those with a century-old archive that make it on the list; newer, more innovative players are honoured, too, for their future-forward visions.

If you’ve ever seen an artisan chip away at precious metal to make the perfect Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet, or an apprentice work and rework the patina of fine leather before offering their blood, sweat, and tears into the sole of a Yohei Fukuda shoe, then you know that naming them in Robb Report Hong Kong’s Best of the Best is a finely attuned exercise in recognising the people who go above and beyond their call of duty to create something magical.

MGM Cotai Theatre

At long last, Best of the Best 2024 by Robb Report Hong Kong will be revealed at a grand gala evening at the MGM Cotai Theatre in Macau on Saturday, 16 December 2023, where the edition will be launched at a gathering of over 300 distinguished personalities, leaders of the luxury industry, UHNWIs, and VIPs, many of whom who would have flown and ferried in especially for the occasion. An immersive luxury evening filled with delights, surprises, live performances, car showcases, talks, honours, and awards, there’s a lot to pack into one night, but one of the focal points of the gala dinner promises to be an exclusive fireside chat with Tim Kobe, “the best-kept secret at Apple,” as per the late Steve Jobs, and notable author and keynote speaker Deepak Ohri, led and moderated by Tak Man, publisher of Robb Report Hong Kong. Mary Gostelow, travel and hospitality authority, will also be honoured on the night for her outstanding contributions to the luxury industry, alongside Kobe and Ohri.
