On the evening of 16 December 2023, the sound of hundreds of ribbon-tied packages ripping open rang in the air as the latest edition of Best of the Best by Robb Report Hong Kong was unveiled at long last at Robb Report Hong Kong x MGM Best of the Best Gala Dinner 2024, held in Macau for the first time. Our highly anticipated and coveted annual magazine, comprehensibly covering 13 luxury lifestyle categories, premiered at a glamorous black-tie gala event. Celebrating the finest products, places, and services, each honorand has been catalogued, photographed, and praised for standing out in the crowd.
And what a crowd it was! Some 350 personalities, leaders of the luxury industry, UHNWIs, and VIPs, many who flew and ferried in especially for the occasion, gathered at the MGM Theater at MGM Cotai for a gala night to close out the year in style before zooming off for the holidays. From the global PMC family, team members from the Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia editions of Robb Report, as well as Billboard Philippines, made their presence felt as Robb Report Hong Kong released its latest edition to champagne toasts and applause.
Our immersive luxury gala experience was eventful, to say the least—the crowds went wild for the new McLaren 750S as Max Sutera hit the stage to pick up Robb Report Hong Kong’s Best New Supercar award, while Danny Xiang of PrimeCare International was at the dais to receive the Luxury Family Wellness award on behalf of Saint Bella for transforming the luxury maternal care industry. Deepak Ohri, celebrated entrepreneur, author, and keynote speaker, was given Robb Report Hong Kong’s Icon of Luxury award. Tim Kobe, founding partner, principal, and design director of Eight, accepted the Innovator of Luxury award. And finally, one of our own, veteran columnist Mary Gostelow, was presented with the Authority of Luxury award for her influential contributions to travel and hospitality journalism.
When chairs were set up for a fireside chat—led and moderated by Tak Man, CEO and publisher of Robb Report Hong Kong—all bets were off as a freewheeling discussion on industry concerns, challenges, grand successes, overcoming failures, and the future of luxury were brought to the stage.
Car enthusiasts were thrilled by the exclusive showcase of luxury marques; BMW brought its i7 xDrive60 M Sport Edition and XM Plug-In Hybrid to the event, Lamborghini paraded the Urus Performante and 2023 Huracán STO, and McLaren’s Senna drew admiring looks. Delights, surprises, live performances, car showcases, talks, honours, and awards were jam-packed into a one-night soirée that ended as DJ Cyrus spun till the early hours of morn.
