Kurt Strand may have created the perfect marine contradiction.

The Florida-based designer, who has a reputation for penning disruptive vessels, has just unveiled a new 253-foot hybrid that is whisper-quiet on the water but stands out with an eye-catching silhouette.

Fittingly christened Silence, the newcomer features a sturdy steel hull, a sleek aluminium superstructure, and sweeping lines that elegantly connect the fore and aft. The handiwork of Strand’s eponymous design studio, the exterior was inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and sustainable design. To that end, the vessel can cruise the seas silently and sans emissions for up to eight hours in electric mode. It can reach up to 26 knots at full tilt, too.

Spearheaded by Acoya Design House, the interior is the epitome of Scandi-chic with a subtle colour palette and minimalist Nordic furnishings. It is also anchored in nature, as the decor showcases a mix of natural materials, organic shapes, and verdant greenery. House founder Anja Carlsson believes we will see more of these pared-back yacht interiors as seafarers look to counter today’s busy lifestyles and cluttered environments.

Spread across four decks, the living quarters are characterised by floor-to-ceiling glazing and sprawling open floorplans. In terms of accommodation, the yacht can sleep up to 14 guests in seven large suites and 20 crew.

The upper deck is dedicated to an extravagant owner’s suite that sees a generous bedroom open out to an aft terrace with a Jacuzzi and sun loungers. As Strand puts it, “This is the owners’ hide-out and a place to truly unwind.”

The main deck centers around a light airy lounge that leads outside to a beach club with a pool and lounge. The sundeck is also geared toward indoor-outdoor living: The exterior is equipped with a Jacuzzi, an outdoor cinema, and a dining area that can seat 14, while the interior includes a sophisticated bar and gaming area.

Other highlights include a wellness area and a foredeck helipad that can transform into a party area or sun-soaked lounge. Silence also sports a substantial storage area with space for two 33-foot tenders, six Jet Skis, and other water toys. What more do you need?
