Sanlorenzo’s new 120-foot superyacht will give seafarers quite a few bragging rights.

The new SX120, which will debut at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival, takes the title of the largest model in the Italian yard’s crossover range. The SX line includes three other models measuring 76, 88, and 100 feet, respectively. Size isn’t the newcomer’s only wow factor, though.

The SX120 is also the first composite yacht in the world to be equipped with Volvo Penta’s new IPS Professional Platform. The inboard performance system uses two 1,000 hp engines per pod, delivering the grunt of larger motors in a much smaller package. It also uses less fuel and produces fewer emissions, reducing the overall environmental impact. “The system makes use of steerable units and hydrodynamically optimised counter-rotating propellers, which allow a significant reduction in energy losses and a marked improvement in manoeuvrability, especially at low speeds,” Nicola Pomi, VP of Volvo Penta’s marine sales yacht and superyacht division, said in a statement.

As with the other crossovers, the SX120 combines the best parts of a flybridge yacht and an explorer. It features the sleek, sporty lines synonymous with the SX range, as well as expansive decks inside and out. Sanlorenzo collaborated with the same design teams that worked on previous models, with Zuccon International Project handling the exterior and Piero Lissoni taking care of interiors. With a volume of 270 GT, the yacht offers a generous amount of living space across four decks.

The aft is completely dedicated to “bathing activities,” according to Sanlorenzo. The giant beach area is centered around a cool pop-up pool that can move up and down via a lift and be covered or uncovered via a sliding sundeck mechanism. The beach area is also equipped with fold-out terraces that can be opened to increase the real estate from 430 to 750 square feet. A few steps away lies the cozy lower deck lounge. Four guest cabins can also be found on the lower deck, one of which can be turned into a lounge or small hammam.

The main deck is outfitted with a vast salon, a sculptural wooden staircase that connects all four decks, and an elegant dining area that can seat up to 14 guests. The forward area of the main deck is devoted to the owner; the suite there offers sea views and a private outdoor lounge.

Heading up the wooden stairs, the upper deck centres around a sprawling multipurpose space that can be used as a dining area, media room, or playroom. There is another alfresco lounge nearby, too. To top it off—quite literally—the flybridge has been turned into a sundeck. Sanlorenzo says this transformation is a first for this style of yacht. The sundeck showcases a “Smart Island,” a nifty modular seating system that can be easily configured.

Get ready to brag.
