Earlier this week, Tiffany & Co. announced the global launch of the Tiffany Lock collection and its debut in Hong Kong with brand ambassador Rosé from K-pop girl group Blackpink (and just ahead of the quartet’s mega concerts in Hong Kong, too).
Expanding on the current offering of Tiffany Lock bangles that debuted in the US last September, a treasure trove of rings, earrings, and pendants in rose gold are up for grabs with the latest arrival. The collection pays homage to the jeweller’s illustrious heritage while introducing the latest innovation to the eye-catching bangle: an elegant swivelling mechanism that allows the designs to open and close.
“Tiffany Lock is an elegant interpretation of an archival functional design,” says Alexandre Arnault, executive vice president of product and communication at Tiffany & Co. “Defined by modern, clean lines and a breakthrough clasp mechanism, Tiffany Lock represents an exciting new pillar to our diamond and gold jewellery offering. We are thrilled to unveil our latest icon.”
In the spirit of the company’s motto, “No Rules. All Welcome,” the entire range is suitable for both men and women. After a celebrated US launch last year, the highly anticipated collection is finally here in the city for fans of the famed brand. Who doesn’t like a Tiffany blue box filled with anticipation and sparkle?
As jewellery historians and collectors of the brand know, the humble padlock has been an important motif from the Tiffany archives, standing as a symbol of togetherness and inclusivity. During the 1950s, the jeweller began to adopt an aesthetic purpose with the padlock, as everything from key rings and money clips to brooches and necklaces featured design elements evoking padlocks. In fact, not long ago, the lock theme, emblem, and motif were clearly visible in collections like Return to Tiffany and Tiffany HardWear. In its latest incarnation, the brand continues to embody the modern consumer’s (gender-neutral!) desire and taste and locks it in.
The Tiffany Lock collection is available at Tiffany & Co. stores around the world and on tiffany.com starting from January 2023.
