The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards delivered everything one would expect from an awards show: humour, poignancy, and incredible fashion.
The annual ceremony, which took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Monday evening, included heartwarming cast reunions, a hilarious skit by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and an epic kiss between The Bear stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Matty Matheson. A whopping 27 awards were handed out, too, with The Bear, Beef, and Succession receiving between five and six Emmys each.
As always, A-listers gussied up with sharp suits, glamorous gowns, and jaw-dropping jewellery. The best-dressed gents showed off fresh takes on classic tailoring and some spectacular wrist candy. Jeremy Allen White and Kieran Culkin both received their first Emmys while wearing watches by Vacheron Constantin and IWC, respectively. Cousin Greg, a.k.a. Nicholas Braun, also wore a piece by Vacheron Constantin, while fellow Succession star Brian Cox pulled off a cool design by Jacob & Co. The Omega De Ville Trésor was spotted on the wrists of several gents and is quickly becoming the watch of the awards season.
Below are the best watch flexes from this year’s Emmys.
Jeremy Allen White: Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix
Jeremy Allen White is continuing his winning streak. The actor, who received his second Golden Globe last week for his performance as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in The Bear, scored his first Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. He is continuing to dress like a winner, too, pairing a custom Giorgio Armani suit with a Vacheron Constantin wristwatch and probably some Calvins. Inspired by a 1956 model (reference 6073), the Fiftysix in question features a 40 mm pink-gold case and a classic dial with Arabic numerals, baton hour markers, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The elegant retro-contemporary wrist candy is priced at US$25,500 (HK$199,390).
Nicholas Braun: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph
Succession star Nicholas Braun didn’t score an Emmy, but he did score some style points by wearing a sharp Dior suit and a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph to the ceremony. At once elegant and casual, the timepiece showcases a 42.5 mm steel case and a black dial with silvered subdials. It also features a striking open-worked caseback that glimpses the self-winding movement (calibre 5200). The watch is priced at US$35,600 (HK$278,365).
Colman Domingo: Omega De Ville Trésor
Rustin star Colman Domingo has worn Omega to the Golden Globes, the Governors Awards, and the Emmys. This particular De Ville Trésor, which Domingo paired with a Louis Vuitton look, is a contemporary take on the 1949 original. It features a 40 mm stainless-steel case, a silvery opaline dial with a date window at 6 o’clock, and a diamond-paved bezel that adds just the right amount of glamour for the red carpet. The timepiece will set you back US$12,900 (HK$100,870).
Theo James: Omega Constellation Globemaster
Theo James of The White Lotus fame was another gent repping Omega at the Emmys. The actor wore a striking Constellation Globemaster to the ceremony. The watch features a 41 mm Sedna gold case, a polished fluted bezel, and a sun-brushed blue “Pie Pan” dial reminiscent of the 1952 original. Each facet on the face is inscribed with a month of the year, while a date display is located at 6 o’clock. On the reverse side, the caseback has a gold Central Observatory medallion set in sapphire crystal. To top it off, the watch is powered by Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer (Calibre 8923) with an annual calendar function. It will cost you a cool US$29,500 (HK$230,670).
Anthony Anderson: Jacob & Co. Brilliant Ruby Watch
Anthony Anderson took to the stage to host the Emmys wearing a bold embroidered Etro suit and a dazzling Jacob & Co. watch. The breathtaking timepiece is part of the watchmaker’s Brilliant Collection. Crafted from 18-carat rose gold, the 44 mm case is invisibly set with 226 baguette-cut rubies. The dial showcases another 187 stones, while the crown and buckle feature 12 and 21 gems, respectively. In total, the watch is adorned with 447 rubies weighing 30.71 carats. This reference is limited to only six examples, naturally.
Bill Hader: Omega De Ville Trésor
Funnyman Bill Hader looked seriously smart at the ceremony. The comedian wore a sleek grey Dior ensemble with an equally sleek Omega De Ville Trésor. This reference showcases a 40 mm stainless steel case, a two-tone silvery dial with a power reserve display at 12 o‘clock and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock, and a grey leather strap. Who knew grey on grey could be so eye-catching?
Kieran Culkin: IWC Portugieser
Kieran Culkin likely had other A-listers green with envy. The Succession star, who won his first Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series, paired an elegant Givenchy suit with a drool-worthy IWC watch. The Portugieser features a sleek 40.4 mm stainless-steel case, a striking green dial with a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock, and a green alligator strap. It is also equipped with IWC’s in-house automatic movement (calibre 82200) that provides a power reserve of 60 hours. Roman Roy’s wrist candy will set you back US$7,450 (HK$58,255).
Brian Cox: Jacob & Co. Epic SF24
Brian Cox may not have won an Emmy for his portrayal of Logan Roy in Succession, but he did succeed in the watch game. The Scottish actor wore a Jacob and Co. Epic SF24 to the ceremony. The traveller’s watch features an innovative split-flap display that lists 24 cities and a second time zone. Inspired by the old split-flap boards in airports and train stations, the patented display comprises a total of 163 components, allowing it to work at the press of a button. The timepiece looks good on the wrist too, with a sizeable 45 mm titanium case and an opaline black dial. It is limited to a scant 101 examples.
Donald Glover: Cartier Tank
Emmy nominee Donald Glover looked the picture of elegance in a Bode ensemble and a Cartier watch. Priced at US$13,000 (HK$101,650), the Tank Louis Cartier is distinguished by a 33.7 mm yellow-gold case, a red lacquered dial with golden sword-shaped hands, a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon, and a burgundy alligator strap. Glover has worn a Cartier Tank on the red carpet once before and we hope he does again.
James Marsden: Omega De Ville Trésor
James Marsden didn’t win an Emmy for Jury Duty, but he did show off a chic Canali suit and some winning Omega wrist candy. The actor was one of several gents wearing an Omega De Ville Trésor. This reference features a 40 mm stainless steel case, a handsome black dial with a power reserve display at 12 o‘clock and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock, and a black leather strap. The De Ville Trésor is the real winner this awards season.
