Palm Beach Motor Yachts is going bigger than ever before.

The Australian yard, which yacht racer and maker Mark Richards launched in 1995, unveiled a new flagship on Wednesday that will take the fleet to new heights—or lengths, rather. “When the Palm Beach 85 splashes, she’ll be the largest yacht we’ve built, and will represent a new level of luxury, fuel efficiency, and performance in the yachting industry,” Richards said in a statement.

Over the past three decades, Palm Beach has garnered a reputation for delivering meticulously crafted and technologically advanced yachts with impressive performance specs. Each of the nine models in the Classic Palm Beach lineup and the three in the Palm Beach GT Sports series can also be customised by each discerning owner. The new Palm Beach 85—or PB85 for short—can be tailored to you, too. You can opt for a Skylounge variant (pictured top) or Sedan model, pick between three or four staterooms, and choose either twin or triple engines, for example.

As with every Palm Beach fleet member, the PB85 is constructed using the yard’s proprietary V-Warp technology. The strong and efficient hull is a sandwich of foam, e-glass, and epoxy resin, while the streamlined superstructure is made from lightweight carbon fibre. The sleek exterior enhances overall performance, increasing range and improving fuel efficiency. In fact, the yard says its cruisers consume 70 per cent less fuel than other yachts in their class.

The PB85 is pretty fast, too. Powered by Volvo Penta engines, the yacht has a cruising speed of 23 knots, a top speed of 26 knots, and a range of 200 nautical miles at 21 knots. Twin MAN V-8s result in a top speed of 27.5 knots, a cruising speed of 25 knots, and a range of 650 nautical miles.

Another highlight of the PB85 is the onboard layout. A large, single-level living and entertaining area spans the entire main deck, creating a spacious feel and a sense of flow between the interior and exterior. The salon, which stretches from the forward helm station to the covered cockpit, acts as a light and airy relaxation space for guests, while the generous aft deck provides easy access to the water. To top it off, the full-beam owner’s stateroom amidships is outfitted with a plush king bed, an en-suite, and ample storage.

“At Palm Beach, we’re constantly improving, innovating, pushing ourselves, and exceeding industry expectations—the PB85 is the result of countless hours of hard work by our entire team,” adds Richards. “I am extremely proud of what we’ve been able to achieve.”

No details regarding delivery, but fingers crossed the PB85 hits the seas soon.
