For the first official fashion shoot for Robb Report Hong Kong, we knocked on the doors of popular stylist Denise Ho, grabbed one of the hottest young photographers, Natalie Dunn, and booked make-up artist extraordinaire and industry icon Karen Yiu and her crew, while sending out casting calls to every notable modelling agency in the city.

To showcase the wares from the biggest, brightest, and best designer houses in the world, Ho cherry-picked pieces from the autumnal collection of Armani, Dior, Hermès, Ralph Lauren… Flipping through the Rolodex (yes, they still exist!) of designer brands, timeless looks not hindered by trend or ephemeral fads were finally selected.

Though he says he’s long left the modelling industry, actor, DJ, and graffiti artist Tom Price did the honours as man of the moment. You can read up more about the affable Price here, or wait and watch his new show on Netflix, out in the summer of 2023. In town briefly to shoot a campaign for a popular brand, Chinese supermodel Zhang Yan strutted into K11 Artus like she owned the joint. But even her tall frame was dwarfed by a particular Ralph Lauren look, which had a tail of fabric that two stylist assistants helped drape. The ensemble easily weighed more than our leading lady. Ah, fashion. Uniformed guards and handlers brought in jewels and watches that tallied into the millions, as we tried to be discreet so as to not disturb the residents, who were out and about living their lives without paying much attention to the effortlessly elegant couple striking and vogueing for Dunn’s camera.

Then the McLaren landed.

Brought in on a truck and wheeled out by men in gloves, it threw all pretence of shooting on location without disturbing anyone out the window. Everyone pulled out their phones and clicked away. We didn’t even try to ask the gathering crowds for discretion as we wanted to surprise you with the first look at the gorgeous supercar at our shoot. The images went viral, unsurprisingly, and people started gathering, looking at the rare wheels on display. A magnificent beast of a machine that roared into the driveway, like it had been uncaged after months of hibernation.

At one point we told the models to sit this one out—as the car inhaled all the attention, no one was looking at them.
