On 15 November 2024, the Italian Chamber of Commerce hosted its much-anticipated gala dinner at Regent Hong Kong. This prestigious event, now a hallmark of Hong Kong’s local and Italian community’s social calendar, welcomed nearly 400 distinguished guests, blending an atmosphere of elegance with a commitment to philanthropy and cultural celebration.
As attendees arrived, they were greeted by the committee members, and guests gathered pre-dinner at cocktails to meet, mix, and mingle. The evening hit all the right notes; the ambience was lively and guests indulged in exquisite Parmigiano Reggiano and gourmet canapés in a refined atmosphere. Of course, the finest Italian wines were in the offing in the decked-up foyer.
In fact, the evening’s offerings were further elevated by impressive displays from prominent exhibitors, including Ferretti Group Asia-Pacific, which highlighted luxurious boat models, and the striking Ducati motorcycle and Pagani automobile, epitomising Italian innovation and craftsmanship. Dressed to the nines, all the guests at the black-tie gala dinner looked fantastic in all their gown and glory. After all, Italian fashion is second to none—it’s the terra firma that gave us the A to Z of fashion, from Armani to Zegna.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce Gala Dinner 2024 was marked by a series of exceptional performances that captivated the audience throughout the night. A dynamic acrobatic duo took to the stage, accompanied by a talented live band that showcased a rich array of musical styles, reflecting the artistry that Italy is renowned for. Special thanks were extended to the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Italy for their support in inviting the clarinet trio, consisting of Lorenzo Antonio Iosco, Luca Cipriano, and Raffaello Giardino, whose enchanting performances added a magical touch to the evening.
Exceptional and exquisite dining was a key highlight, with Regent Hong Kong’s culinary director, Ciro Petrone, presenting a meticulously crafted menu that celebrated the finest traditions of Italian cuisine. Each dish was a testament to Italy’s rich culinary heritage, paired thoughtfully with a selection of wines that enhanced the dining experience. Guests were treated to a culinary journey through the diverse regions of Italy, complemented by the indulgence of refined Illy coffee, further elevating the gastronomic experience.
The evening also served as a launchpad for the inaugural ICC Business Awards, a fabulous new initiative aimed at recognising outstanding accomplishments within the community. This prestigious ceremony celebrated excellence across six categories, with notable winners taking home awards across several categories and distinctions, including Service Provider; Environmental, Social, and Governance; Italian Excellence; Chamber Supporter; Hong Kong Loves Italy; and Excellence Award in Promoting Italian Language and Culture. The awards underscored the Italian Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to honouring those who contribute significantly to the vibrancy of the Italian community.
A memorable highlight of the evening was the ceremonial presentation of the Great Honours of the Order of the Star of Italy. Awarded by the president of the Italian Republic, this esteemed distinction recognises the remarkable contributions of individuals in fostering bilateral relations between Italy and other nations. The Ambassador of Italy to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Massimo Ambrosetti, honoured two distinguished entrepreneurs for their impactful achievements, solidifying the ties between Italy and the local community.
In addition to celebrating excellence, the gala dinner incorporated a robust fundraising programme, featuring a charity lucky draw and a silent auction. These initiatives exemplified the generous spirit of the attendees, successfully raising substantial funds for The Society for the Relief of Disabled Children. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by guests reflected a dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of those in need.
