From George Clooney to Kendall Jenner, there’s no shortage of stars who have decided to launch their own alcohol business(-es). Although tequila is the popular choice for Clooney, Justin Timberlake, The Rock and many others, some have lent their name and fame to gin makers, such as like Ryan Reynolds, and champagne connoisseurs like Jay Z.

We’ve rounded up a number of successful celebrity-owned alcohol brands below, in case you want a shot of star power with your tipple.

Aviation Gin by Ryan Reynolds

Chances are you’ve already seen Ryan Reynolds’ (hysterical!) viral adverts for his gin business. The botanical-blend gin, which includes notes of French lavender, anise and orange peel, was originally created by two men in Oregon. After Reynolds sampled the gin and claimed it was the “best tasting gin in the world,” he purchased a stake in the business in 2018.

Casamigos by George Clooney

Tequilas

The Ocean’s Eleven star and his two friends Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman launched Casamigos after the trio spent many “tequila-filled nights” together, according to the brand’s website. Crafted by a Mexican distiller in Jalisco, Casamigos has a range of tequila and mezcal that were blind taste-tested by the founders. Speaking on the brand’s website, Clooney and the founders said, “It was never intended to be released to the public. It’s all we serve at our homes in Mexico, so it’s literally our house tequila.”  When Diageo acquired Casamigos for US$700 million, early last year, well, that house is now a castle!

Armand de Brignac by Jay-Z

While Jay-Z has been involved with numerous alcohol ventures over the years, champagne brand Armand de Brignac is among his most successful. Known for its easily recognisable golden bottles and black spade logo, Jay-Z purchased the company in 2014 and LVMH bought a 50 percent stake in the business last February – cementing its status and his own as Jay-Z became Hip-Hop’s first proven billionaire.

Brown Sugar Bourbon by Jamie Foxx

Sugar Bourbon, an award-winning flavoured whiskey with notes of, no surprises here, brown sugar and cinnamon. He purchased the Washington-based brand in 2021 and told Inside Hook at the time he enjoys drinking his BSB “in the nude.”

Casa del Sol by Eva Longoria

Casa del Sol by Eva Longoria

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria’s tequila brand is one of the few female-owned celebrity alcohol brands, run alongside two other Mexican women, Mariana Padilla and Alejandra Pelayo. Inspired by the Aztec goddess Mayahuel, the tequila is crafted in Jalisco and the brand uses handcrafted French Cognac bottles to age its spirits. With blanco, reposado and anejo iterations, each bottle is topped with a golden stopper and a sun motif. Casa del Sol – House of The Sun – maybe inspired by celestial beings, but is entirely run by female power.
