In the latest edition of Leaders of Luxury, Robb Report Hong Kong had the rare opportunity to sit down with Georges Kern, Breitling’s intrepid CEO. During his all too brief sojourn in Hong Kong, Kern launched not one, but three exquisite timepieces: limited editions of Breitling’s flagship models—the Premier, the Navitimer, and the Chronomat—in honour of the company’s 140th anniversary.
He spoke at length about the importance of the city as a watch market, Breitling’s expansion plans in China (and why they entered the market so late), and how the brand has overcome obstacles time and again in its long history. Any watchmaker that’s survived for over a century is sure to have many chapters of dizzying heights and careful ebbs, and Kern reflects on challenges had, and challenges met.
