Extreme weather gear, classic footwear and a James Bond-approved watch were among the most coveted menswear items over 2021’s final quarter, with brands like Gucci, Prada and Omega among them.

Fashion search platform Lyst, which releases a quarterly report called The Lyst Index, revealed the ten most searched for menswear must-haves between over the last quarter of the year sales.

A timeless classic topped the list with Gucci’s signature 1953 Horsebit Loafers taking first place, perhaps thanks in part to the buzz around House of Gucci and its star and Oscar-nominee Adam Driver donning the pair throughout the film.

Next on the list was the Omega Seamaster Diver 300 Watch, one of the Swiss watchmaker’s most popular models. While the watch is available in numerous finishes and clockface colorways, a minimal stainless steel version with a white ceramic and black dial was featured in the report. It’s no surprise the longstanding model remains in high demand, with Daniel Craig helping design and even wearing a version of the watch in his final James Bond outing, No Time to Die.

Puffer jackets and winter gear such as balaclavas by Stone Island pointed to the rise of interest in the ‘gorpcore’ movement; a trend that focuses on outdoor fashion and utilitarian extreme weather pieces. Elevated luxury pieces like Prada’s Re-Nylon puffer jacket and a pale blue puffer Moncler jacket were among the most searched items, alongside puffy quilted footwear including a pair of Yeezy boots and mules by The North Face.

Lyst empirically speculates looking at the research and report, “With health and political uncertainty rising again, a survivalist element began to filter into fashion too.”
