Ever since his big screen debut in the 1962 movie Dr No, James Bond has been the most recognised secret agent in the world. His qualities—refined, discreet, powerful, and always prepared for action—are also what characterise Leica’s D-Lux point-and-shoot camera line. Now, over 60 years after the release of the first Bond film, the camera maker has added the compact D-Lux series with a special edition made to celebrate the legacy of the famous fictional spy.

Elegantly, the Leica D-Lux 7 007 Edition differentiates itself with a distinctive yet subtle design. The camera body features a trim made of a high-performance, rhombus-patterned material that has never been used on a D-Lux 7 before. The motif is extended to the handgrip, which, together with the wrist strap, ensures the camera is held safely in your hands—perfect for high-octane adventures in the same vein as a Bond mission. As a homage to the 007 series, the D-Lux 7 has no shortage of signature James Bond elements—see the logo printed on the top plate and the automatic lens cap featuring the emblematic “gun barrel” design that appears in the opening sequence of Bond films.

Performance-wise, the compact camera is built for versatility. Equipped with a large image sensor and fast lens—Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34 f/1.7-2.8 ASPH. with a zoom range between 24 to 75 mm in 35 mm format—it produces high-quality photos in conveniently compact dimensions. A holster-style leather case, channelling the spy identity of James Bond, gives new meaning to the term “point-and-shoot” and makes it easy and convenient to carry the tool.

Leica D-Lux 7 007 Edition

As a tribute to the first film in the James Bond universe, released in 1962, the camera comes in a limited batch of just 1,962 units, with the edition number printed on the hot shoe. If you are looking to add this gadget to your collection, the Leica D-Lux 7 007 Edition is now available at Leica stores, the Leica online store, and authorised dealers with a price tag of HK$18,000.
