Earlier this month, Porsche Centre Hong Kong unveiled the new Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé at The St Regis Hong Kong, the latest in the SUV series that’s finally on display (and sale!) in Hong Kong at the marquee’s expansive showroom in Wan Chai.

Now in its third generation—originally launched as far back as 2002 when the first model entered the SUV market—the new Cayenne comes with an array of digitalised, high-tech features. Among the innovative upgrades, the most extensive ones cater to the user experience, but drivers will find overall enhancements to the Cayenne’s powertrain, chassis, design, and equipment bound to wow car enthusiasts looking for power, and owners looking for comfort and luxury. Neither speed, performance, nor premium comfort is sacrificed—it seems the latest Cayenne is set to deliver on all fronts with a zooming elegance.

Porsche Cayenne’s sporty look is newly emphasised—note the strongly arched wings, new bonnet, sharper headlights, three-dimensionally designed taillights, and new rear apron, all coming together for a bolder and more powerful look. Personalisation is key as the new Cayenne range also offers wheels in different widths. Furthermore, a whopping 33 kilogrammes can be shaved off the Cayenne Coupé with the Lightweight Sports Package.

For the right amount of razzle-dazzle, the Cayenne comes with matrix LED headlights as the standard option, but two high-definition modules, which have the technical ability to identify other users and block out high beam lights to avoid glare, are also available, offering a total of over 64,000 pixels to increase functionality. Apart from looking aesthetically pleasing and ferocious on the road, the light modes increase safety and comfort while driving.

A set of new shock absorbers with two-valve technology provide optimised driving performance, comfort at slow speeds, and pitch and roll support while cornering. Plus, the new adaptive air suspension with two-chamber, two-valve technology further improves the smooth driving experience with soft suspension to stabilise the car. Simultaneously, this feature enhances driving precision and reduces body movements while driving.

For the numbers on power and milage, here’s what’s under the hood: the new Cayenne series comes with a choice of three different engines. Among them, the most powerful is the four-litre V8 bi-turbo, designed to replace the earlier V6. For the fast and the curious, this engine can accelerate the Cayenne S to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Its top speed of 273 km/h may not be imperative in Hong Kong traffic, but it’s still good to know what the metallic beast is capable of.
