Pampering your pooch is a lucrative business as the biggest luxury brands have launched their own line of products and accessories catering to pets and pet concerns. Once an exception, almost a footnote in a brand’s portfolio, currently designer pet accessories are all the rage.

Hermès
Home, outdoor, equestrian – dog. The categories on Hermès’ comprehensive site spell it out clearly. What a treasure trove of accessories and (some might say-) essentials for your pet of any and every size. Scrolling through galleries of dog harnesses, leashes, collars, your pet will be spoilt for choice. The dilemma? Pick an elegant black leather leash with its silver buckle and clasp (HK$12,000), or the retro chic, brown wooden brush, emblazed with the brand’s iconography (HK$900)? Why choose. Let’s go for both.
Fendi
Fendi has been in the game longer than a few of the brands listed here, providing monogrammed accessories for dogs since Paris Hilton appeared on her reality TV show, carrying her prized pet Tinkerbell in only the finest of leathers. From the Spring/Summer 2021 line, we are loving this timeless dog carrier, with a double handle and detachable webbing shoulder strap. Two double-slider zip openings and mesh net inserts at the sides let your prized pooch breath – and get a view. Meanwhile, in excess (not just a 90s retro band), there’s at the other end of the spectrum, the sweet indulgence of more is more, Gucci. New in their portfolio’s lifestyle selection, the Gucci Pet Collection has an extensive catalogue to “allow each animal’s personality to shine as an ode to the Creative Director’s vision of individuality.”

Launched in June 2022, we’ve seen many celebrity pets swathed in Gucci already. Skimming our mouse through the pet wool cashmere jumpers to four-figure waste bag holders for our four-legged friends, we locked in on the travel bowl set (HK$38,750). Made in a brown Demetra trim—crafted from animal-free raw materials that are primarily from sustainable, renewable, and bio-based sources, A bonus, it can be personalised with bespoke engraving at your nearest Gucci boutique.
Dog Bed by 21 Concepts
The dog bed by Carmen Li, owner and head designer at 21 Concepts (instagram @ 21_concepts) is so chic, it went viral on sharing apps by innumerable pet owners who kept a tab on the gorgeously designed accessory – while looking for more.
Entirely bespoke furniture for your pampered pooch, anything and everything you see on site is made to order. Created with durable, outdoor fabric, as dog beds require high quality and resistance, a level up on function, Li leaned heavily on sophistication by tapping into the finest threads from Brochier, Pierre Frey, Gaston y Daniela and trims by Samuel & Sons.
The colour scheme is endless and so are the possibilities. “I wanted something unique and tasteful for my space and to create a dog bed that is seen as a piece of stylish furniture in our living room,” says Li, who designs with the entire room – and pet – in mind to ensure everything segues seamlessly in your plush interiors. “I recently designed an entryway ottoman that functions as a dog bed, storage and can double up as a shoe rack! These pet projects are addictive.”

Prada
Crystal studded satin pet collars, nylon dog harnesses and Saffiano leather pet bags in a flash of bright red or the more subdued black. Our cuteness pedometer went off the chart for the pure white pet raincoat. The triangular brand insignia was not lost on us either.

Barney Cheng
For the ultimate pet lover, get bespoke, bejewelled accessories in the shape or form of your favourite pet as an everlasting tribute to them. For this, you need to knock on the doors of Hong Kong couturier and famed designer Barney Cheng. Of the many custom-built jewel encrusted accessories he’s fashioned, one of the special requests he had – which he fulfilled – was to make a diamond encrusted gold bracelet in the shape of a famed socialite’s favourite pet. Custom built.
Now is it for the pet per se? “Well, we can make jewel-studded pet accessories too.”

And finally, a “Medusa pet waste bag holder and charm.” With a motto along the lines of ‘no such thing as too much bling’, the sparkling clasp and charm is a steal for HK$2,000.
