For the first time ever, “Fabric of Time,” an experiential pop-up, is being hosted in Macau at the Spectacle of MGM Cotai. Hennessy X.O collaborated with acclaimed British artistic director and fashion designer Kim Jones in a fusion of arts and spirits, where Jones designed a unique, limited-edition bottle for the cognac brand.

A novel partnership of its kind where cognac meets couture, Jones has created an aluminium second skin for the Hennessy X.O decanter while maintaining the shape of the bottle, evoking a swirling couture silhouette. Since we last reported on the collaboration at Robb Report, this artistic bottle has been on display and on sale in unique hotspots around the world.
“Throughout the years, a formidable lineage of great masters has helped cement Hennessy X.O’s cultural resonance, including Gehry, Cai Guo-Qiang, and Ridley Scott,” says Maurice Richard Hennessy. “This collaboration with Kim Jones pays tribute to cognac-making and couture, two processes that touch on an understanding of science and the natural world as well as artisanal craftsmanship and savoir-faire. At the same time, we are very excited to be returning to the vibrant city of Macau to create an unrivalled and illustrious experience that can only be found at MGM Cotai.”
Apart from the pop-up, Homan Tsui, chef de cuisine of Imperial Court, has prepped a multi-course menu with delicacies of Lingnan culinary classics. “The Refined Indulgence Pairing Menu” is also a veritable showcase of how and why the fine-dining restaurant has won a slew of awards for their inspired dishes.

This collaboration is another testimony to our continuous efforts in transforming MGM Cotai into a holy ground for a kaleidoscope of global limited-edition events to Macau. It is also an integral part of our longstanding commitment to arts, cultural and gastronomy development, which is our effort to help Macau achieve economic diversification.”
What makes the design artistic yet seamless is that it encapsulates the bottle without losing out on its original, iconic shape. If Jones has draped the most exquisite models in design and fabric, he does the same for the curved silhouette of the Hennessy bottles—“its base, an undulating oak plateau, nods to the barrels used to age eaux-de-vie that would eventually be blended to create Hennessy X.O.”
The pop-up in MGM Cotai showcases the offers of the collaboration, including the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece, the Limited Edition, and the HNY Low by Kim Jones, a sneaker created by the designer. For those who fancy a tipple, a complimentary Hennessy X.O tasting is in the offing too.
