One of the swankiest members only premium club, tucked away on Lantau Island is the Lantau Yacht Club (“LYC / Club”), which was recently honoured by the Marina Industries Association with the prestigious 5 Gold Anchors accreditation.
One of the industry’s most respected marina associations, the recognition positions the LYC among the most outstanding marinas in the world for its exceptional facilities and remarkable services.
As the first marina to open in Hong Kong in over a decade, the new addition to the yachting sceneboasts over 140 wet berths of sizes great and small. Whether you have a sleek miniature schooner or you’re sailing the seas in a megayacht, the club caters to all sizes. Boats as big as the 43 meter Pershing 140 superyacht has moored at the marina, as the club expects superyachts over 60 meters to drop anchor in the coming years.

Yacht owners can also take their vessels to the club’s in-house service yard, where their prized vessels will be maintained and cared for by a professional team. With round-the-clock security on-hand to keep an eye on your boat, you can enjoy the many facilities the club has to offer.
Deputy chairman of HKR International Limited, Victor Cha, says, Hong Kong’s lack of mooring facilities has previously been a deterrent for the nautically-minded – particularly for superyacht owners. “The opening of the new Lantau Club has already attracted a lot of interest from yacht owners and industry players,” he says. “The Lantau Yacht Club will bring renewed vigour to the yachting community in Hong Kong and in Asia.”

More than just a place to park your boat, members also get access to its elegant clubhouse where they can grab a coffee or cocktail at Caffe Napoli, or lounge on its manicured lawn. A private helipad is also available for those taking to the skies, as well as a tennis court to unwind with a game after a long sail.
Run by the same team behind Auberge Discovery Bay, the private club also has partnerships with Discovery Bay Golf Club, the island’s ice rink as well as Discovery Bay Recreation Club. Members of the Lantau Yacht Club can take advantage of these other properties, whether you’re planning on a dip in the pool at Auberge or booking in for a round of golf at the Golf Club’s 27-hole course.
Membership to the Lantau Yacht Club is limited currently, a by-invitation-only programme at this time. However, those who want to register their interest can drop the team a note on their website here.
