If Gladiator is your Roman Empire, pack your bags and prepare to enter the arena.

Ahead of the highly anticipated release of Gladiator II, which hits theatres on 22 November, Red Savannah has launched a new itinerary inspired by the upcoming sequel starring Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal. The luxury travel company is hosting a five-night journey through Italy with curated stops at the country’s most famous ancient Roman sites that’ll no doubt transport you back in time.

As for what’s in store, you’ll kick things off in the capital city of Rome. Here, you can follow in the footsteps of Russell Crowe’s character, the late Maximus Decimus Meridius, from the 2000 original by stepping into the Colosseum. Travellers will make their way into the legendary area through the exclusive Gladiators’ entrance. While you won’t have to suit up, you’ll definitely be entertained. Along the way, you’ll also go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Pantheon, Castel Sant’Angelo, and the Stadium of Domitian. That arena was originally built in AD 80 by Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus and operated as a venue for athletic competitions, including gladiatorial games.

The journey includes a stop at the Colosseum.

Next, it’s off to Naples by train—or you could opt for a swanky helicopter transfer instead. Either way, the second leg of the trip includes flying over Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii via chopper. Rest assured, an archeologist will be at your disposal to answer any questions, and you’ll also have time to sift through artefacts at the Archeological Museum in Naples. The trek continues to the Amalfi Coast, a holiday hot spot for affluent ancient Romans. Instead of battling it out for victory, you can rest your weary bones aboard a private boat trip to Capri, a favourite island retreat of Emperor Tiberius. Of course, gladiators have to eat, too. Travellers will be treated to lunch at Lo Scoglio in Positano, an iconic Amalfi Coast restaurant that’s been made even more famous by Stanley Tucci and his travel show, Searching for Italy

The Gladiator II experience is the latest addition to Red Savannah’s set-jetting adventures. The operator is known for providing packages that give guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in their favourite movies and TV shows—like Netflix’s period drama Bridgerton and Michael Mann’s Ferrari flick.
