Columbus Yachts’ first crossover doesn’t want you to skimp on luxury during that Antarctic expedition.
The 138-foot Big Naan, which debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show in mid-September, blends rugged explorer DNA with superyacht style, allowing the owners to travel to the furthest reaches of the globe without sacrificing the good life.
Designed by Hydro Tec, the modern, muscular exterior is characterised by a sturdy steel displacement hull, a distinctive bulbous bow, and a lightweight aluminium superstructure. With a displacement of 443 GT, the vessel is compact yet delivers an unusually large amount of exterior deck space. The spacious aft cockpit can be used for alfresco lounging or for storing a large, nearly 20-foot tender, with a built-in stern crane making it easy to get the runabout in and out of the water. The upper deck cockpit is outfitted with sofas for sky-high lounging, while the sundeck is set up for dining underneath the expansive hardtop. Forward, the bow is adorned with two sofas that serve as a welcome lounge.

The real star of the exterior is the swimming pool. Holding nearly 600 cubic feet of saltwater and measuring over six feet deep, the pool is one of the largest on a vessel this size, according to Columbus. It was designed to be a structural element in the hull, too, with the four glass sides serving as walls in the beach area below and bathing the area in natural light. Located on the lower deck, the beach club can be accessed via hydraulic doors port and starboard. Located on the lower deck, the beach club is accessible via two hydraulic doors positioned to port and starboard of the aft swim platform. The multipurpose space currently functions as a gym, but could also be used as a spa or additional entertaining area.

Designed by Hot Lab, the interiors are a study in contrast, with marble and precious stones playing against soft fabrics and neutral tones juxtaposed with bold splashes of colour and pop art. Lighting was another focus, with dramatic fixtures further enhancing the decor and lines throughout. The living quarters comprise a sprawling main salon with plush, designer furnishings, an intimate dining area with a custom Minotti table, and a bespoke metal bar. In terms of accommodation, the owner’s suite on the main deck features a study, a huge wardrobe, a vanity, and a marble en suite with a double shower, while the four guest cabins on the lower deck all come with en suites, Armani wallpapered ceilings, velvet headboards, and custom lighting.
As for grunt, Big Naan is equipped with two 742 kW Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines that enable a top speed of over 14 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots, and a range exceeding 5,500 nautical miles at an economical speed of 10 knots. The yacht is also fitted with two pairs of stabilisers to ensure comfort at sea and at anchor.
