Are you concerned the new Bugatti Tourbillon isn’t ridiculous enough? Don’t worry, the marque has you covered.
The French automaker has just unveiled the first option package for its third modern-day hypercar. Dubbed the Équipe Pur Sang, the upgrade celebrates the company’s racing-rich history and adds several new elements, including six additional exhaust tips.
The Bugatti name may be most closely associated with exclusivity these days, but in its early days, the automaker was a major player on the track. The company was a dominant force in racing between the wars, its cars taking checkered flags at the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 and twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans the next decade. The new option package—the name of which translates, in English, to “Team Thoroughbred”—is meant to pay tribute to this heritage.

The Tourbillon Équipe Pur Sang may not look radically different from the base hypercar, but eagle-eyed observers will notice a couple of subtle tweaks. These include a new front splitter, upgraded directional wheels, and a deployable rear wing with small endplates to increase downforce and stability. The biggest changes can be found in the rear, where the standard two-pipe exhaust system now features eight tips. This is complemented by a reworked diffuser which helps improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside the vehicle, you’ll find new embroidered details on the dashboard and headrests. Performance seats designed to offer enhanced lateral support in the corners also come standard.

The Tourbillon’s hybrid powertrain remains untouched. It’s not hard to see why engineers have chosen to leave well enough alone. The setup, which pairs a naturally aspirated 8.3-litre V-16 with a trio of electric motors, makes a combined 1,800 hp and 1,464 ft lbs of torque. All that power is enough to rocket the car from zero to 60 mph in two seconds flat and to a targeted top speed of 276 mph.
“With the Équipe Pur Sang option, we elevate its appearance towards the track, enabling customers to celebrate the pure racing soul that has defined Bugatti for over a century,” Hendrik Malinowski, the managing director of Bugatti, said in a statement.
Has your interest been piqued? Just be prepared to spend. Bugatti has yet to announce how much the Équipe Pur Sang option package will cost, but expect to add a significant amount to the Tourbillon’s US$4.1 million (approximately HK$31.91 million) starting price.
