In the thick of summer, many are jetting out of the sweltering city as travel in Hong Kong soars to the skies. Recent news reports suggest that, post-pandemic, people want out. And how! A survey conducted by Klook, a travel and leisure e-commerce platform, found that a whopping 96 percent of respondents stated they planned to travel at least once in the next 12 months; 40 percent said that three or more trips were on the cards.
As expected, Japan was the top pick for travel, as are Thailand, South Korea, and multiple destinations in Europe. Beach destinations, tropical resorts, and flights to cooling azure blues are being booked as we speak. Well, in that case, you’ll need the right wardrobe staples and gear. Our pick runs the alphabet, from Armani to Zegna.
Armani

First and foremost, shove all your beach-bound gear and accoutrements into a bag for all seasons, from the designer of all seasons, Giorgio Armani. The linen and leather duffel bag costs a pretty penny, but it’s a timeless classic that should last you endless summers.
Chanel

The 2023 Haute Horlogerie collection featuring the science fiction- and space-inspired J12 Interstellar is our fashionable watch select of the summer. Who says men can’t wear Chanel? Its unisex watches are all the rage among the dashing and the debonair, and even major watch enthusiasts love the J12 for its technical finesse.
Dior

Protect your eyes with some stylish shades. Dior’s round acetate sunglasses have a relaxed elegance to easily slip on. Look for the discreet details; the panto shape, the tinted lenses, and, of course, the monogram-engraved hinge.

Hermès

A chic essential more than a necessity, we all need a beach towel of a slightly disproportionate size and enduring style to lie on while trying to catch some rays. Well, make it a limited-edition print designed by Quentin Monge for Hermès. Woven in Germany and screen-printed in plain orange on the back, with an Apres la Vague print in the front, this terrycloth cotton towel is as luxe as it gets.
Loro Piana

One of the top 10 hottest products of the season according to Lyst, and one of the best-selling accessories of the year—so far—has been the humble Loro Piana baseball cap, which comes in a selection of muted shades (it’s frequently worn by Jeremy Strong’s character, Kendall Roy, on Succession). Subtle yet coveted, this is the perfect headwear for a sunny day.
Maison Labiche

With its blue-and-white-striped motif, the swim trunks by Maison Labiche have an unmistakable French touch. Famed for its embroidered menswear, Maison Labiche’s summer selects are as chic as can be; this pair is designed with a drawstring waist, rendered in the softest materials to provide you with ultimate comfort in the heat of the day and cool of the night.
Available at Lane Crawford.
Zegna

The off-white triple stitch or the foliage brown? Why not both? Zegna’s supple deerskin shoes have the look of casual ease, but the patina is pure luxury. The unmatched softness, lightness, and flexibility of these triple-stitch, multifunctional shoes are unmatched, and the signature wear-resistant polish exudes eternal elegance and modern refinery, elevating the low-key design and rich details. It’s the craftsmanship and durability that makes Zegna accessories so leisurely loved.
